Ukrainian citizen smuggled cigarettes to lose Mercedes

Border guards prevented an attempt to smuggle out tobacco products to Romania across the Ukrainian-Romanian border. The driver lost his vehicle worth 600,000 hryvnias.
Border guards in cooperation with customs officials found a specifically designed hiding place while searching a Mercedes minivan at Porubne Border Crossing Point.
48-year-old driver, a resident of Chernivtsi region, managed to hide 537 packs of cigarettes produced in Ukraine in specially built cavities inside the vehicle.
The cost of confiscated tobacco products is estimated at almost 43,000 hryvnias. The 2010 Mercedes minivan was also confiscated as an instrument of unlawful activity and was estimated at 600,000 hryvnias.
